Optimal Design for Articulated Steering Mechanism Based on Genetic Algorithm

Abstract: In order to solve the vibration and hydraulic shock in articulated steering mechanism, took the minimum differential steering cylinder strokes on both sides and minimum required power of steering pump as fitness function, laid steering torque, steering angle and oil cylinder stroke as constraint conditions, then optimized the articulated steering mechanism using genetic algorithm. After genetic selection and optimization, articulated steering mechanism had obvious improvement than initial design structure, oil cylinder stroke shortened by 61.1%, required power of steering pump reduced by 11.1%. The experiment proved that the optimized steering structure is obviously superior to the initial design.
